Chris McLinden
Chris is a professional contemporary artist and designer, who works in a wide range of areas, including Sculpture, Painting, Drawing and Photography.
Chris's art practice investigates the relationship between Humans and Creativity and Innovation.
It is informed by exploring human responses to creativity and innovation, which come in many forms, and which appears to transform and translate subtly over time.
Chris attempts to combine his personal reactions, commentary and resulting storylines, with experimentation on how to effectively visually represent them, embedding this within the materiality of the artworks themselves.
This often includes using found object deconstruction and re-purposing/recycling techniques, which challenge the current use or typical representations of the chosen physical objects or concepts.
When existing objects, concepts or ideas are deconstructed or questioned, and then uniquely combined and reconstructed, they can convey very different and powerful images and messages.
One key part of Chris's work is his trademarked innovation ‘Portraits of Concepts’®️ which explores and codifies how creativity is created, captured and deployed within ever evolving concepts, across wide ranging knowledge fields.
Chris is also a qualified executive coach, who specialises in coaching both business and arts professionals to increase their creativity and innovation skills, and the skills of their organisations.
He has unique experience of working with creativity and innovation as he holds both a BA (Hons) Fine Art degree, and an MBA Strategic Management, having trained as both a Fine Artist and a Chartered Business Leader.
This unusual combination of skills, knowledge and understanding enables Chris to effectively coach individuals on an individual or group basis, using his wide ranging understanding of creativity practices, processes and human led innovative approaches.
This is combined with a previous successful career in University senior leadership, directing strategic innovation and partnerships, before working as a professional contemporary artist and designer, and creativity and innovation coach.
